Got a call today from a software company. Last week, I got phoned-in three times by head hunters asking me how long have I been writing for our company. These agents were specially interested with how long have I been using the Adobe FrameWork documentation software. Each conversation felt like I am undergoing employment screening as they lay down more than five questions that I was sometimes unprepared to answer.

Receiving these calls made me realize how in demand a Technical Writer is in the industry. These representatives never failed to ask how much is it I am getting paid by my current company. I sometimes hesitate to share those kinds of information, but a colleague said she thinks it's alright to reply to these inquiries. This way, I can have an idea how it was with other company when it comes to compensating their employees. One of the agent inquirer even offered to give me three times of what I am making right now. But of course I was not swayed by these offers as I am happy and content with where I am right now.
