The Right To Education

I think this is the most important Human Rights there is. The ability to have access and obtain proper education from the best institutions must be within everyone’s reach. I remember getting excited during my senior year thinking what I wanted to take up after graduation. I have been very much into writing back then, so I aimed taking up Journalism and Creative Writing. Of course, I wanted to pursue writing and learning it from the best there is; a University in the city. But where I am from is much too far from my dream school that I ended up taking English at a nearby State University.

Students nowadays are lucky to have online university within reach. I only found out about this innovative platform last year when a friend of mine shared that she applied for an online nursing degree at Western Governors University. Their nursing degree is now accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) so my friend only had good things about this education program.

Genre Jumps

Bored to death. I'm currently watching Paper Heart for the second time this week. I needed to find the spark of the film. I needed to write a research paper about jamaica but is too sick to do it. Been sneezing the whole morning. I took something already, and it's making me sleepy. Too sleepy to even write.

Teenage Dirtbag is next on the line. It sort of jive with the genre where Paper Heart is.

Will be ending this marathon with Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Talk about huge genre leap.

Photowalk

I cannot remember the last time I went out and randomly take pictures. It’s like having my own photowalk. Walking around the neighborhood or our wet and dry market and snapping away and taking pictures of the mundane scenes around gives me a natural high. I often use our point-and-shoot camera and my Holga 120 CFN camera. I really want to purchase my own SLR. I've been looking at the different models of digital slr cameras while eating breakfast. I would really much want to get something like this in the future:

Escape

For the last ten years, there are things that I noticed that had completely changed around me. Major things that I sometime would just want to rush to the nearest exit signs. But these does not happen on a daily basis. Everyone experiences having cold feet, I guess. And one can do and think about is the easiest way to escape. I guess it is a learning process going through these major changes and having different ways of facing them. One could face it with one’s head held high, while others would just crash and burn.

Ferrari

It’s red. It’s grand. It’s every man’s dream car. But what makes Ferrari even more popular is not only the impeccable class but it’s horsepower. Racing with this baby is a driver’s Mecca, and having the updated Ferrari parts is perfection.

Ferrari

A friend of mine is a huge fan of the car and the sport. Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button are the two names I would constantly hear from him every time it’s race season. I can hear the excitement in his voice while giving us a blow-by-blow of a recently-conducted race. I love the part when he imitates the screeching sound of the cars.

Upgrade

I’ve been doing an upgrade for a lot of things around the house lately. Last weekend, I set up a WiFi environment here at home. I bought a hi-end router after our provider upgraded our broadband service to a faster and more stable connection. I am actually writing this entry under the mango tree at our front yard. I am making a list of the things that I needed to upgrade like a video card for the desktop and a new RAM. Higher one to be able to upgrade it to Windows 7.

Dear Dominique,

Hello :)

So late reply again hehe. I love reading long letters. It's inspiring and it gets my mind off things. :D

I am writing this letter while sitting at our mini garden, under the mango tree. Literally. I was able to set up a WiFi environment here at home. I did it all by my self which was great. Our provider upgraded our broadband connection into a faster, more stable one last weekend. Napabili tuloy ako ng router, and decided to get one with WiFi. Anyways, enough of that tech talk. Excited lang ako because it's really hi-tech na here. HEHEHEHE.

I still don't have a dress for the party. There's a weekend midnight sale today and tomorrow in almost all the malls in Manila, so today and tomorrow should be a perfect time to shop.

We had a Bowling tournament at the office last Wednesday. It was a lot of fun. It was my first time to go bowling. Purple team (my team) won the first round, but our scores was 20 points less for the finals. I did not manage to hit a strike, but my points are not that bad for a beginner. I did not suck at bowling. :D

Mama's getting better. She went back to school two weeks ago. We had an agreement that if she once again spend even a day at the hospital again, she would file her resignation and retire early.

Wow. You're moving out. That's awesome you get to have your own place together with your friends. I remember giving a shot on moving out and living with my colleagues when I was still working for GMA 7. The people I live with were not really my friends, but I learned a lot from them. I thought of doing that when I started my new job in Makati three years ago but did not push through. Anyways, good luck with the new place. :D

The Christmas breeze always greets us in the morning. I sometimes had to make pakulo ng tubig for my morning bath because the water is freakin' cold. Speaking of Christmas, I'll be doing my Christmas list before the day ends. Our Christmas tree in the living room is starting to get lonely without the gifts underneath it.

Oh, what's your mailing address?

Miss you,

Bel :)

500 Days Aftermath

It has been almost a month since I have seen (500) Days Of Summer and I still cannot stop gushing about it. It really is one of the most interesting film I’ve laid my eyes into this year. Been checking out different blogs and sites reading articles, watching videos and keenly reading reactions about the movie from film critics and bloggers alike. I am juggling task doing these blogs rounds while writing about Armed Services Job Search. Yes, that’s me and multi-tasking.

Going Out Of Town This Holiday Season?

Check out these chic Samsonite luggage that’s perfect for people who’s always on-the-go, hopping from one country to another. What I like about it is its very functional design. One would want to have a luggage that is built not only to carry my stuff around, but one that is very stylish and functional at the same time. Now I have to plan and prepare my holiday plans before everything gets booked…

Masters Degree

My mother have been suggesting for the past four years that I get my Masters. I took up Education and majored in English when I was in college. Normally, it would take one at least two years to complete the course and earn a degree. I am planning on taking up Communications or Literature but I still don’t have the time yet due to my busy schedule at the office. Then a friend of mine shared over coffee that you can get Masters degree online.

Online master degrees like the one offered by Gonzaga University is pretty interesting. The online university has the following credentials:

  • Gonzaga University is ranked number 3 in the West by US News and World Report.
  • Gonzaga University is ranked one of the nations best universities by The Princeton Review and Forbes Magazine.
  • Kiplingers Personal Finance ranks Gonzaga a best value among private universities.
  • Gonzaga offers several of its masters degrees online. Not many top ranked schools are offering online programs. Many of the top ranked programs are reluctant to go online because they feel that this diminishes the quality of the education.
  • Gonzaga finds the exact opposite, because it allows experienced professionals the opportunity for an advanced educations, who may otherwise not be able to because of professional or personal commitments.

Gonzaga University the following degrees on their online education program:

  • Masters in Organizational Leadership
  • Masters in Communication and Leadership Studies
  • Masters of Science in Nursing
  • Online RN to MSN
  • Servant Leadership Development Program

Check out www.gonzagaonline .com for more details regarding these courses.

Hollywood Halloween

Holiday Monday today. Started my day early and tried to make the Globe Broadband connection work. I failed, as always. It’s starting to get into my nerves because they haven’t restored their connection for almost a month now. Mind you, I have been constantly calling Globe’s customer service about this, requesting for the problem to be resolved. The last time the tech guys from Globe went here, they didn’t resolve the problem. I think they made it worst. We never had a connection after that. Oh well…

Good thing my brother got a free Smart Broadband plug-it internet. It’s a pain in the pocket since you have to load it with credits. Php100 gives you only 5 hours of Internet. In fairness to Smart plug-it, the connection were getting is pretty decent.

Anyways, enough of that Broadband rant; I’ve been browsing through blogs of celebrity pictures and what they dress up as for Halloween. There is this one party at a las vegas hotel where Ashley Greene and Kelan Lutz of the Twilight fame hosted a ball. The kids of Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani are adorable with their dinosaur costumes. But I love love love the costumes of Jessica Alba and her husband, Cash Warren: they went to a party as Dora the Explorer and her cousin  Diego. How cute :D
